The Determination of Rupture Strength in Some Varieties of Corn
Abstract
In this study, the rupture strength along the three major axis of four varieties corn were examined as function of moisture content. The average length, width, thickness, unit mass and volume projected area for three major axis of seed were 11.44 to 12.82mm, 2.70 to 8.47mm, 4.42 to 4.72mm, 0.310 to 0.375g, 0.235 to 0.295cm² and 0.250 to 0.875cm² respectively at 12.92 % m.c.d.b.
The rupture strength on loaded along the three major axis were found as 80.4 to 4.63 N in moisture range of 12.90 to 36.60 % d.b. The highest rupture strength occurred on loaded along ‘z’ axis. The statistical analysis of variance showed that the effects on rupture strength of variety and dimension were not significant except for Luce variety.
