EROS VE PSYCHE MİTİNİN SANATTA TEMSİLİ: PSİKOLOJİK KURAMLAR PERSPEKTİFİNDEN DİSİPLİNLERARASI BİR İNCELEME

Öz

Mitolojik anlatılar, insanlık tarihinin en eski kültürel kodlarından biri olarak sanatın ve psikolojinin gelişiminde belirleyici bir rol oynamıştır. Bu çalışma, Eros ve Psyche mitinin sanat tarihindeki temsillerini psikolojik kuramlar perspektifinden ele alan disiplinlerarası bir inceleme sunmaktadır. Çalışmada, özellikle Rönesans, Barok ve Neoklasik dönemlere ait sanat eserleri analiz edilerek aşk, merak, kayıp ve ruhsal dönüşüm gibi temaların sanat aracılığıyla nasıl görselleştirildiği tartışılmıştır. Sternberg’in Aşk Üçgeni Teorisi, Freud’un Eros ve Thanatos kavramları ile Sosyal Kimlik ve Sosyal Karşılaştırma Kuramları, mitin psikolojik boyutlarını anlamak için kuramsal çerçeve olarak kullanılmıştır. Bu bağlamda Eros ve Psyche, yalnızca mitolojik bir aşk anlatısı değil; bireysel kimliğin inşası, ruhun olgunlaşması ve toplumsal aidiyet süreçlerinin sembolik bir temsili olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Sanat eserleri aracılığıyla mitin çok katmanlı anlam yapısı çözümlenirken, mitolojinin sanat ve psikolojiyle olan bağının güncel kuramsal yaklaşımlarla yeniden okunması amaçlanmaktadır.

THE REPRESENTATION OF THE EROS AND PSYCHE MYTH IN ART: AN INTERDISCIPLINARY ANALYSIS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF PSYCHOLOGICAL THEORIES

Öz

Mythological narratives, as some of the oldest cultural codes in human history, have played a crucial role in the development of both art and psychology. This study presents an interdisciplinary analysis of the representations of the Eros and Psyche myth in art history through the lens of psychological theories. Focusing particularly on artworks from the Renaissance, Baroque, and Neoclassical periods, it explores how themes such as love, curiosity, loss, and spiritual transformation are visualized through artistic expression. The theoretical framework includes Sternberg’s Triangular Theory of Love, Freud’s concepts of Eros and Thanatos, and Social Identity and Social Comparison Theories, to interpret the psychological dimensions of the myth. In this context, Eros and Psyche are evaluated not merely as a mythological love story, but as a symbolic representation of individual identity formation, spiritual maturation, and processes of social belonging. By analyzing the multilayered semantic structure of the myth through artworks, the study aims to offer a contemporary theoretical reading of the connections between mythology, art, and psychology.
