Abstract

Cognitive
fatigue (CF) is considered as one of the factors affecting performance in
exercise and sports. The purpose of this review is to explain the concept of
cognitive fatigue, how cognitive fatigue is formed, how it is evaluated, and to
discuss the results of studies related to the subject and thus to make
suggestions for future research. For this reason, the studies in the literature
have been searched in different databases and listed as effects on; “a)
endurance performance, b) anaerobic power, maximal strength and speed
performance, and c) sport-specific skills, motor and cognitive
performance”.  According to the results,
it was observed that BY had a negative effect on exercise and sports
performance. In general, it caused impairments in endurance, motor performance,
and sport-specific skills and decision-making, but did not affect performance
in maximal or supramaximal activities. The negative effects of CF on
performance are thought to be due to the increase in perception of effort,
neurotransmitter distribution in the brain, and decreased level of motivation.
In future studies, neurophysiological changes during cognitive tasks that lead
to CF can be examined in more detail, and could be focused on how to eliminate
the effects of BD.

BİLİŞSEL YORGUNLUĞUN EGZERSİZ VE SPOR PERFORMANSINA ETKİLERİ

Year 2020, Volume: 18 Issue: 1, 1 - 32, 17.03.2020
https://doi.org/10.33689/spormetre.620619

Abstract

Bilişsel
yorgunluk (BY) egzersiz ve sporda performansa etki eden faktörlerden biri
olarak değerlendirilmektedir. Bu derlemenin amacı bilişsel yorgunluk kavramını,
bilişsel yorgunluğun nasıl oluşturulduğunu, nasıl değerlendirildiğini açıklamak
ve konuyla ilgili çalışmaların sonuçlarını tartışmak ve böylece gelecekteki
araştırmalar için önerilerde bulunabilmektir. Bu nedenle literatürdeki
çalışmalar farklı veri tabanlarında taranmış, ve BY ile ilgili yapılmış
araştırmalar; “a) dayanıklılık performansı, b) anaerobik güç, maksimal kuvvet
ve sürat performansı ve c) spora özgü beceriler, motor ve bilişsel performansa
etkileri” başlıkları altında açıklanmıştır. Sonuçlara göre BY’nin egzersiz ve
spor performasını olumsuz etkilediği görülmüştür. BY genel olarak dayanıklılık,
spora özgü beceri, motor performans ve karar verme süreçlerinde bozulma
yaratmış ancak maksimal veya maksimal üstü aktivitelerde performansı
etkilememiştir. BY’nin performans üzerindeki olumsuz etkilerinin; algılanan
zorluktaki artışa, beyindeki nörotransmitter dağılımına ve motivasyon
düzeyindeki azalmaya bağlı olduğu düşünülmektedir. Gelecek çalışmalarda BY’ye
neden olan bilişsel işler sırasındaki nöro-fizyolojik değişimler daha detaylı
incelenebilir ve BY’nin etkilerinin nasıl elimine edebileceği üzerinde
durabilir.
