Abstract

The purpose of this article is to examine the psychological basis of peer bullying and possible solutions. The study was prepared using the traditional literature review method. Peer bullying occurs when individuals are subjected to physical, verbal or social pressure by their peers, especially during childhood and adolescence. When the psychological basis of this behavior is examined, it is seen that bullying is related to factors such as individual insecurities, low empathy levels, need for social acceptance and family problems. Children who have violence, neglect or negative role models in the family may tend to reflect these behaviors to their peers. Bullying can lead to various psychological and social problems such as loss of self-confidence, anxiety, depression and decrease in academic success in the victimized individual. The solution methods suggested against peer bullying include school-based intervention programs, raising awareness of families and teachers, anti-bullying trainings and activities aimed at developing empathy. In addition, providing psychological support for victims of bullying and individuals who are bullies plays an important role in preventing bullying. Promoting a safe environment in schools and teachers and guidance units taking an active role in this regard are also effective in reducing the prevalence of bullying. All these measures aim to prevent the long-term effects of peer bullying by encouraging healthy relationships between individuals.

AKRAN ZORBALIĞININ PSİKOLOJİK TEMELLERİ VE ÇÖZÜM ÖNERİLERİ
