Digital Literary Atlases: An Examination of the Possibilities of Digitalization in Turkish Literature

Abstract

This research aims at examining the digitalization process of Turkish literature and the multidimensional effects of this transformation on reader-writer relationships. Nowadays, the accessibility of literary works is increasing via platforms such as e-books, audio-books and digital libraries, fundamentally changing traditional reading and writing practices. This study utilized qualitative research methods, specifically literature review and thematic synthesis. Recent local sources, primarily academic articles, theses, and scientific conference proceedings, were examined in depth. The results indicate that digitalization on one hand offers new academic research opportunities such as Digital Literary Atlases and on the other hand leads to the emergence of new genres such as electronic literature and social media literature. In the discussion section, the potential of digitalization expanding the readership, changes in reading habits and its possible effects on the permanence of literary texts were evaluated in a sociological and cultural context. In conclusion, it has been determined that the adaptation of Turkish literature to the digital age is inevitable and that this process brings new opportunities and challenges for both readers and writers. This study contributes to the field by systematically synthesizing recent academic discourse to provide a critical framework for understanding the digital transformation of Turkish literature.
