The target audience of the journal consists of researchers, physicians, and health professionals who are interested or engaged in all health and medical disciplines. Manuscripts submitted for publication are required to present original research filling a gap in the field or to offer a noteworthy and novel perspective evaluating previously published studies.
The entire submission and publication process is free of charge; no fees are requested from the authors at any stage, including article acceptance. Authors submitting manuscripts to Sabuncuoglu Serefeddin Health Sciences are deemed to have declared that no ethical misconduct has been committed. Manuscripts found to contain plagiarism will not be published in our journal.
All types of manuscripts submitted for publication undergo Editorial Board Evaluation, Preliminary Check, and Peer Review Processes.
1. Editorial Board Evaluation
All manuscripts submitted to the journal are first reviewed by the Editorial Board. Submissions considered inadequate in scope or quality are returned to the author without entering the peer review process.
2. Preliminary Check Process
Manuscripts reviewed by the Editorial Board are then checked by the Technical Editor (Manuscript Editor) for compliance with the journal’s writing guidelines, template, reference format, ethical approval, and similarity report.
The maximum acceptable similarity rate is 25%. Submissions exceeding this limit are returned to the author. When uploading the manuscript file, the similarity report must be submitted by the author(s) via the journal system. Sabuncuoglu Serefeddin Health Sciences uses Turnitin or iThenticate software to detect plagiarism.
3. Peer Review Process
After the initial editorial assessment, if deemed appropriate, the manuscript is assigned to an Associate Editor within two days.
The Associate Editor appoints at least two independent reviewers who have previously published a doctoral dissertation, book, or article related to the subject area.
The review process is conducted in accordance with the double-blind peer review policy, ensuring complete confidentiality. The identities of the reviewers and authors remain anonymous throughout the process.
Reviewers are given three days to accept or decline the review invitation. If no response is received, a new reviewer is appointed.
Each reviewer has seven days to complete the evaluation and upload the review report, assessing the study in terms of scientific content, methodology, findings, and ethical compliance. In case of conflicting opinions, a third reviewer may be assigned.
For an article to be accepted, at least two positive reviewer reports are required. If one reviewer’s decision is positive and the other’s is negative, the Editorial Board may either assign a third reviewer or make the final decision based on the available reports.
Authors are expected to consider the reviewers’ and Editorial Board’s comments carefully. Manuscripts requiring revision are returned electronically to the authors, who must respond to each comment one by one. If the author disagrees with a comment, a detailed justification should be provided.
Authors are allowed 7 days for minor revisions and 10 days for major revisions. Upon justified request, an additional 5 days may be granted. If the revised manuscript is not submitted within the given time, the publication process is terminated.
Revised manuscripts are re-evaluated by the reviewers within 2 days, who assess the adequacy of the corrections. Further revisions may be requested if necessary.
If both reviewers provide negative evaluations, the article will not be published in the journal.
4. Publication Process
a. Language Editing
After the peer review and revision stages, the manuscripts are reviewed by Language Editors (English) within 1–3 days for academic English quality. Additional corrections may be requested from the author.
b. Final Editorial Board Evaluation
Manuscripts that have successfully passed the peer review and language check are reviewed by the Editorial Board, which determines the volume and issue in which the article will be published.
c. Layout and Typesetting
Approved manuscripts are formatted by the Layout and Design Editor in accordance with the journal’s official template.
d. Final Proofreading
After typesetting, a final proofreading is performed before publication, and the journal issue is released.
