WORDS OF HUNGARIAN ORIGIN IN THE TURKISH DICTIONARY

Abstract

Hungarian and the Turkic languages share a
long and rich history, but the scholarly research of this linguistic relation
mostly focused on the effect that the Turkic languages had on Hungarian, and
the other side of the connection has been largely ignored so far.. The aim of
this study is to examine all words of Hungarian origin in the Turkish
Linguistic Society’s official Turkish Dictionary, in all eleven editions of it,
and provide an in depth analysis of them.
