Vocational Guidance Services and the Metaverse: New Methods in Talent Development

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to examine new methods related to metaverse in vocational guidance services. The research was conducted using traditional literature review from qualitative research methods. Vocational guidance services benefit from developing technologies in order to help individuals make conscious career choices. In recent years, metaverse technology has offered new and innovative solutions in this field, providing individuals with the opportunity to have interactive career experiences in a virtual environment. Metaverse-based vocational guidance services allow users to experience different professions with technologies such as virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR). In this way, individuals can explore work environments they may encounter in real life in the virtual world and better evaluate potential career paths. Employers and educational institutions in particular contribute to the development of individuals' skills by offering virtual internships, simulations and interactive training modules in the metaverse. While traditional vocational guidance methods are generally based on face-to-face interviews and written tests, metaverse-based guidance offers an individualized and more effective experience with gamification and artificial intelligence-supported guidance systems. The study concluded that metaverse technology provides an innovative dimension to vocational guidance processes, allowing individuals to discover and develop their talents more effectively. In the future, it is expected that these technologies will reach a wider user base and revolutionize the field of career counseling. The data obtained within the scope of the study were discussed in the light of the literature and a number of suggestions were made.
