Abstract
Turkey has entered into a structural change/transformation period in the economic sense
since 1980s. In this period, the natural gas has been accepted as the basic input of energy
consumption. Today, the consumption of natural gas is increasing in many industries. While the importance of energy for the development is widely acknowledged, making estimations
about the future demand for the natural gas become essential for the stable economic
development. In this study, it has been aimed to estimate the demand for natural gas in the
sense of reliable and healthy supply of the energy in the near future in Konya, which has
promising potential for development in the region. In the analyses made accordingly, it is
estimated that household natural gas demand will fluctuate among months and will pose
seasonality. And for the analyses made regarding the manufacturing industry, the
consumption will enter into increasing trend within the years.
