Abstract

Supply chains, a key element of global trade, connect economies around the world and direct flows of goods. Maritime transportation has a strategic role today, as it has throughout history.
Maritime transportation is a key player in ensuring the safe, effective, and economical transportation of goods and products coming from and going to every corner of the world. Large capacity container ships and advanced port infrastructures have made maritime transportation an indispensable element of global supply chains. However, this important role is not limited to transporting large quantities of goods; It also has a critical role in accelerating the flow of trade, reducing costs, and adopting environmental sustainability principles. This study will examine the role maritime transportation in global supply chains. We will discuss the contributions of maritime transportation to global trade from a broader perspective; from its advantages to reliability, from environmental impacts to technological developments. In addition, in order to understand future trends and the sector’s evolution, we will make predictions, and examine the potential of maritime transportation.

Denizyolu Taşımacılığının Küresel Tedarik Zincirlerindeki Önemi

Year 2024, , 86 - 103, 28.05.2024
https://doi.org/10.58239/tamde.2024.01.006.x
