1995 yılında Boğaziçi Üniversitesi Siyaset Bilimi ve Uluslararası İlişkiler Bölümü’nden mezun oldu. 2001 yılında doktora derecesini aldı ve yardımcı doçent olarak atandı. 2005 yılında doçent, 2011 yılında profesör oldu. Siyasal Düşünceler, Siyaset Kuramı, Türk Siyasal Hayatı, Siyasal İletişim, Medya ve Sivil Toplum üzerine dersler verdi. Siyaset, ideoloji, medya, demokrasi, yerel yönetim, etik, modernite ve savaş konularına dair makaleleri yayınlandı.

1) Frankfurt Okulu, 2) Sokrates’ten Âşık Veysel’e, 3) Türk Parlamento Tarihi (1973-1977), 4) Güzel Kelimeler ve 5) Parlamenter Sistem mi, Başkanlık mı? 6) Modernliğin İkircikli Serüveni başlıklı eserleri bulunmaktadır.

Halen Marmara Üniversitesi İletişim Fakültesi Gazetecilik Bölümü'nde öğretim üyesi olarak görev yapmaktadır.
