Abstract

Bu çalışmada Jan Assmann’ın kültürel bellek kapsamında ele aldığı hatırlama (geçmiş), kimlik (politik yaklaşım) ve kültürel süreklilik (gelenek oluşturma) başlıkları ile bağlantılı olarak Hellenistik döneme ait ksenoi dikastai (yabancı yargıçlar) kurumundan yola çıkılarak toplumsal ya da kolektif bellek olarak tanımlanan sivil hafızanın polisler arası diplomatik ilişkilerde kullanımı açıklanmaya çalışılacaktır. Bu bağlamda neredeyse dört yüz yıldan fazla bir zaman dilimini kapsayan ve konuyla ilgili dekretlerden geçmişin nasıl kullanıldığına dair detaylı bilgilerin elde edildiği Samos ve Priene polisleri arasındaki anlaşmazlık ele alınacaktır.
