Abstract

Bu makalede, çeviri ve dil öğretimi konusunda bilgiler verildikten sonra, çeviri dersinde öğrencilerin karşılaştıkları temel sorunlar üzerinde durulmuştur. Bu çalışmadaki örnekler, G.Ü. Gazi Eğitim Fakültesi, Yabancı Diller Eğitimi Bölümü Fransız Dili Eğitimi Anabilim Dalı öğrencilerinin çeviri sınavı kâğıtlarından seçilmiştir. Çeviri derslerinde ortaya çıkan sorunların, öğrencilerin ana dillerini doğru ve akıcı olarak kullanamamalarından, yabancı dil ve sözcük bilgilerinin yetersizliğinden kaynaklandığı gözlemlenmiştir. Bu makalenin amacı, çeviri dersinde, öğrencilerin problemlerini tespit ederek çevirideki çok boyutluluğu göstermek ve çeviri öğretimine katkıda bulunmayı sağlamaktır.

THE MAIN PROBLEMS STUDENTS HAVE IN TRANSLATION CLASSES

Abstract

Giving background information in the fields of translation and foreign language teaching, this article considers the basic problems that students have in translation classes. Sample translations on which this study is based are taken from translation exam papers of the French Language Teaching Department, Gazi University. It is concluded that the problems that students face in translation classes originate from the students’ lack of fluency and inability to use their mother tongue properly, and lack of grammar and vocabulary knowledge in the foreign language. The aim of this study is to help students in translation classes by indicating the multidimensional aspect of translation, and thus, to help students by teaching how to make correct translations.
