An Innovative Approach to Program Evaluation: Asking Our Graduates’ Faculty at Their New Institutions
Abstract
Our case study examines an innovative practice implemented during the 2023–
2024 program evaluation process at Hamidiye Faculty of Medicine. The aim of this study is to
advance the well-established and reliable “Kirkpatrick” program evaluation model by
conducting in-depth interviews with the faculty members supervising our graduates in their
clinical workplaces and by presenting the findings. Through this approach, we sought to
strengthen our program evaluation with both qualitative and quantitative data, to investigate
the extent to which our graduates have achieved the intended knowledge, skills, and attitude
outcomes, and to provide a practical framework for colleagues who may wish to apply this
method in their own settings. Ethics committee approval was obtained for our program
evaluation, and informed consent was secured from all participants for the qualitative
interviews.
