Is Digital Transformation Possible Beyond the 20th Century Theories in Education?

Abstract

The Ministry of Education and Higher Education Council is taking important decisions on implementation for distance education since the first Covid 19 case seen in Turkey on March 23, 2020. Education at all levels from preschool education to higher education started to be carried out remotely. Higher education institutions and medical faculties are trying to manage this process in line with their own facilities. It is seen that the studies or projects that initiated before the epidemic in primary, secondary and higher education regarding digital transformation in teaching and experiences in this direction lead the decisions taken in the process. Filtering the accumulation of knowledge and experience for e-learning, which is widely included in the literature, on the philosophy of education and theories will contribute to the healthy decision-making process. The purpose of this article is to review the studies and discussions in the medical education in order to evaluate the features and implementation of distance education and e-learning models during to the Covid 19 pandemic process. In the article, by considering the concept of learning in terms of educational theories and philosophies, the place of e-learning in this process, their strengths and limitations, and its implementation to the medical education was framed. Besides it has been tried to point out the areas of e-learning that should be discussed in the context of system change.

Eğitimde 20. yy Kuram(cı)larına Aykırı bir Dijital Dönüşüm Olanaklı Mı?

Abstract

Türkiye’de 23 Mart 2020 tarihinde görülen ilk Covid 19 vakaların ile birlikte Milli Eğitim Bakanlığı ve Yüksek Öğretim Kurumu uzaktan eğitime yönelik önemli kararlar alarak uygulamaya geçirdi. Okul öncesi eğitimden yükseköğretime tüm düzeylerde eğitim uzaktan yürütülmeye başlandı. Yüksek öğretim kurumları ve tıp fakülteleri kendi olanakları doğrultusunda bu süreci yönetebilme çabası içinde. Öğretimde dijital dönüşüme yönelik olarak ilk, orta ve yükseköğretimde salgın öncesi başlayan çalışmalar ve bu doğrultudaki deneyimlerin süreç içerisinde alınan kararlara yol gösterdiği izlenmektedir. Alanyazında kapsamlı bir şekilde yer bulan e-öğrenmeye yönelik bilgi ve deneyim birikiminin, eğitim felsefesi ve kuramları süzgecinden geçirilmesi sağlıklı karar verme sürecine katkı sağlayacaktır. Bu yazının amacı, Covid 19 salgını sürecinde tıp eğitimi alanında uzaktan eğitim ve e-öğrenme modellerinin özelliklerini ve yerini değerlendirebilmek için, alandaki tartışmaları ve çalışmaları gözden geçirmektir. Çalışmada eğitim kuramları ve felsefesi açısından öğrenme kavramı ele alınarak, e-öğrenmenin bu süreçteki yeri, güçlü ve sınırlı yönleri, tıp eğitiminde uygulama alanlarına yönelik bir çerçeve çizilmiş ve sistem değişikliği bağlamında e-öğrenmenin tartışılması gereken alanlarına işaret edilmeye çalışılmıştır
