Abstract
Amaç: Bu çalışmada 2004-2005 eğitim-öğretim döneminde Ankara Üniversitesi Tıp Fakültesi’nde tıp eğitimine başlayan öğrencilerin öğrenme stillerinin belirlenmesi amaçlanmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Çalışma grubunu oluşturan 284 Dönem 1 öğrencisine Kolb Öğrenme Stili Envanteri uygulanmıştır. Yanıt oranı (n=261) %92’dir. Veriler SPSS for Windows istatistik paket programına girilerek analiz edilmiştir. Bulgular: En baskın öğrenme stili, %62,1 ile “özümseyen”dir. Bunu; “ayrıştıran” (%20,7), “değiştiren” (%12,6) ve “yerleştiren” (%4,6) stiller izlemektedir. Sonuç: Tıp eğitimine başlayan öğrencilerin öğrenme stillerinin bilinmesi eğitim sürecinin planlanması ve uygulanmasına yardımcı olması anlamında önemlidir. Farklı öğrenme-öğretme stratejileri ve yöntemlerine yer veren AÜTF eğitim modelinin öğrenme stillerini geliştirmelerinde öğrencileri destekleyeceği düşünülebilir.
Abstract
Background: The present study was undertaken to determine the learning styles of incoming students of Ankara University Faculty of Medicine (AUFM) in 2004- 2005 academic year. Methods: Kolb Learning Style Inventory was administred to 284 first year medical students at the beginning of 2004-2005 academic year in AUFM. Response rate was 92.0%(n=261). Data was analyzed by SPSS for Windows Statistical Program. Results: The most common learning style was found to be the assimilator learning style (62.1%), followed by converger (20.7%), diverger (12.6%) and accomodator (4.6%) styles. Conclusion: Knowing the learning styles of students at the beginning of medical education is important to help planning and implementation of educational processes. It is suggested that new curriculum of AUFM, which includes different learning and teaching strategies and techniques can support to improve the learning styles of students.
