AKILCI İLAÇ KULLANIMI EĞİTİMİ UYGULAMA SÜRECİNDE TÜRKİYE’DEKİ TIP FAKÜLTELERİNDE FARMAKOLOJİ ANABİLİM DALLARININ DURUMUNUN İNCELENMESİ

Year 2011, Volume: 29 Issue: 29, 11 - 20, 01.03.2011

Abstract

Aim: We aimed to determine the success rate of the courses, which were planned to educate the trainers on problem based rational pharmacotherapy (RP) for the education of medical school students and evaluate the experiences of the pharmacology departments which performed this education. Methods: A questionnaire was sent to all pharmacology departments of the medical schools (n=42) between September 2006 - April 2007 and the data were recruited by the evaluation of those which were replied (n=37). In the questionnaire, educational substructures of the pharmacology departments and the experiences of RP trainers were inquired. To those departments unable to give RP education, the justifications for this failure and their future plans were asked. Results: We found that 27.8 % of the 288 staff members underwent RP trainer education, and 70.3 % of the pharmacology departments give RP education to medical students and69.2 % of the departments have started RP education relatively recent (less than 5 years); 69.2 % of them give this education to groups of 10 to 19 students; 63.6 % of them evaluate the education using objective structured clinical examinations; 95.5 % receive feedback from the students. The main reasons for the failure to give RP education were lack of educated staff members and discordant curriculum. Conclusion: It is evident that most of the staff members who had attended problem based RP trainer education have succeeded to perform this education in their schools. It would be useful to repeat the RP trainer education at certain intervals in order to make problem based RP education more widespread among medical students.
