Does Medıcal Educatıon Affect Lonelıness, Anxıety, Depressıon Levels And Empathıc Dısposıtıon of Medıcal Students in Turkey?

Abstract

Background: Medical undergraduate education may cause many psychological changes in students. The purpose of this study is to analyze the association between medical education and loneliness, anxiety and depression of students at six different faculties in Turkey. Materials and methods: The students completed a questionnaire which included the Hospital Anxiety and Depression Scale, UCLA loneliness Scale, and Scale of Educational Empathy which is invented by Dökmen. Findings: While there is no significant difference among medical faculties in UCLA Loneliness Scale and Scale of Educational Empathy, there is a significant difference anxiety and depression scores. Conclusion: The results of this study suggest that there is a decrease in psychological health among medical students.

TÜRKİYE’DE TIP EĞİTİMİ TIP ÖĞRENCİLERİNİN YALNIZLIK, ANKSİYETE, DEPRESYON DÜZEYLERİNİ VE EMPATİK EĞİLİMLERİNİ ETKİLİYOR MU?

Abstract

Giriş: Mezuniyet öncesi tıp eğitimi öğrencilerde psikolojik durumlarında birçok değişim yaratmaktadır. Bu çalışmada Türkiye’de 6 farklı Tıp Fakültesinde öğrencilerde yalnızlık, anksiyete ve depresyonla tıp eğitimi arasındaki ilişki incelenmiştir. Gereç ve yöntem: Öğrenciler, UCLA yalnızlık ölçeğini, Hospital Anxiety and Depression ölçeğini ve Dökmen tarafından geliştirilen Empatik eğilim ölçeğini kullanmıştır. Bulgular: Tıp Fakülteleri arasında yalnızlık ve empatik eğilim puanı açısından fark yokken anksiyete ve depresyon puanları arasında fark vardı. Sonuç: Çalışmanın sonuçları tıp öğrencilerinde psikolojik sağlıktaki azalmayı göstermektedir.
