The lubrication of synthetic fibres with spinfinishes is the first stage after spinning. Applied via godets or pins, mainly from aqueous emulsions, the spin finish gives the newly-spun filament bundle the necessary cohesion and anti-static properties and reduces the gibreto metal friction for a satis-factory after processing. Thus it makes it possible to feed the bundle of filaments over the fuide rollers without damaging the individual filaments. In this article the properties chemical structures, compositions and methods of analysis of spin finishes will be explained.
