Hemşirelerin Kan Kültürü Örneği Alımına İlişkin Uygulama Basamaklarının Değerlendirilmesi

Abstract

Amaç: Bu çalışma, yoğun bakım ünitelerinde görev yapan hemşirelerin kan kültürü örneği alma uygulama basamaklarını değerlendirmek amacıyla yapılmıştır. Gereç ve Yöntem: Bu çalışma tanımlayıcı türde bir çalışma olup Ege Bölgesinde yer alan 2. Basamak bir kamu hastanesinin erişkin yoğun bakım ünitelerinde çalışan 42 hemşirenin katılımıyla 1-25 Eylül 2024 tarihleri arasında gerçekleştirilmiştir. Verilerin toplanmasında sosyo-demografik veri toplama formu, kan kültürü örneği alma bilgi formu ve gözlem formu kullanılmıştır. Veriler yüz yüze görüşme yöntemiyle toplanmıştır. Bulgular: Çalışmada elde edilen bulgulara göre gözlemlenen uygulamalarda hemşirelerin %52.3’ünün şişelerin üzerine kan miktarını işaretlediği, %85.7’sinin el hijyeni sağladıktan sonra eldiven giydiği ve kan alınacak bölgeye antisepsi uygulayıp kurumasını beklediği, %80.9‘unun kan kültürü şişelerinin kapağını çıkardıktan sonra kauçuk kısmını dezenfekte ettiği, %64.2’sinin uygulama sonrası tekrar el hijyeni sağladığı ve kan kültürü şişesini alt üst ettiği belirlenmiştir Sonuç: Bu çalışmada, hemşirelerin kan kültürü örneği alma uygulama basamakları ile ilgili bilgi sahibi oldukları ancak uygulama basamaklarında eksiklikler olduğu saptanmıştır.

Evaluation of the Procedural Steps of Nurses in Blood Culture Sampling

Abstract

Objective: This study aimed to evaluate the procedural steps for blood culture sample collection performed by nurses working in intensive care units. Materials and Methods: This descriptive study was conducted between September 1 and 25, 2024, with 42 nurses employed in the adult intensive care units of a secondary public hospital in the Aegean Region. Data were collected through face-to-face interviews using a socio-demographic questionnaire, a blood culture sample collection information form, and an observation form. Results: The findings revealed that 52.3% of the nurses marked the blood volume on the bottles, 85.7% donned gloves after performing hand hygiene and applied antiseptic to the blood collection site while waiting for it to dry, 80.9% disinfected the rubber part of the blood culture bottles after removing the cap, and 64.2% performed hand hygiene again after the procedure and inverted the blood culture bottle. Conclusion: The study demonstrated that although the nurses possessed adequate knowledge regarding the procedural steps of blood culture sample collection, deficiencies were evident in the actual implementation of these procedures.
