Yeni Koronavirüs (Covid-19) ile Mücadelede Hemşirelik

Year 2020, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 81 - 90, 29.07.2020

Abstract

Nurses in The Fight Against The Novel Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Year 2020, Volume: 1 Issue: 1, 81 - 90, 29.07.2020

Abstract

The novel coronavirus, which appeared in China at the end of 2019 and then spread to all around the world, results in a variety of ways, from respiratory diseases to death. This has been declared as a pandemic by the World Health Organization. Nurses are directly interested in diagnosis, treatment and care of patients diagnosed with coronavirus, but experience both physical and psychological problems. Healthcare institutions experience intense workload and lack of personal protective equipment with ever-increasing cases. Although nurses feel themselves insufficient individually in the face of this situation, they fulfil the requirements of their professions in the fight against coronavirus. Nurses show their courage, wisdom and sense of responsibility in the face of the novel coronavirus outbreak. Nurses struggling with an infectious disease, such as the novel coronavirus, must meet their basic needs, take breaks, stay connected to their loved ones, follow reliable news sources, communicate effectively, and receive professional support when necessary. This review discusses the difficulties faced by nurses who care for individuals exposed to the novel coronavirus pathogen in their workplaces, and that they need to identify their own needs according to their needs.
