Abstract

Peygamber’in uyku düzenine ilişkin rivayetleri incelemeyi ve modern verilerle ilişkisini analiz etmeyi amaçlamaktadır. Araştırmada rivayetler nitel içerik analiziyle bütünlük içinde değerlendirilmiştir. Bulgular, Hz. Peygamber’in uykusunun süre standardına değil, gecedeki zaman dilimlerinin fonksiyonel kullanımına dayandığını göstermektedir. Yatsı sonrası istirahat, gecenin son üçte birinde teheccüde uyanma, sabah namazı öncesinde kısa bir uyku ve gerektiğinde kaylûle, bu düzenin temel unsurlarıdır. Yapılan değerlendirme Hz. Peygamber’in uyku zamanlamasının modern literatürde vurgulanan gece uykusunun safhaları ve gündüz uykusunun olumlu etkileriyle örtüşebildiğini ortaya koymaktadır. Makale, klasik rivayetlerle güncel bilimsel verilerin disiplinler arası bir bakışla ele alınmasına katkı sunmaktadır.

The Prophet’s Sleep Pattern: A Comparative Analysis of Hadith Narrations and Modern Medical Data

Abstract

Sleep is a fundamental necessity for the continuation of vital human functions. While modern medical literature reveals the effects of regular sleep, sleep is also addressed in the Qur'an and Hadith as a life practice requiring regulation. This study aims to examine narrations regarding the Prophet's sleep pattern and to analyze the relationship between this sleep timing and modern data. Through qualitative content analysis, narrations were evaluated within their integrity. Findings indicate that the Prophet's sleep was not based on a duration standard, but on the functional use of time frames during the night. Resting after Isha, waking for Tahajjud in the last third of the night, a brief nap before the morning prayer, and qaylulah when needed are the key elements of this regimen. The evaluation reveals that the Prophet's sleep timing overlaps with the phases of nocturnal sleep and the positive effects of daytime naps emphasized in modern literature. The article contributes to the interdisciplinary consideration of classical narrations and current scientific data.
