Author Guidelines

Manuscripts submitted to the journal must not have been previously published or accepted for publication elsewhere.

  1. Title: The title must be consistent with the content of the article, best reflect its subject, be written in bold, 10-point Palatino Linotype, and each word should begin with a capital letter. The title should consist of a maximum of 10–12 words.

  2. Author Name(s) and Affiliation(s): Since the manuscript uploaded to the system will be sent to reviewers, author names and institutional information must not be included. (The article may have a maximum of 3 authors. However, in TÜBİTAK and BAP projects, up to 5 authors are allowed provided that it is documented.) After the manuscript is accepted for publication, author name(s), affiliation(s) (TR & ENG), email, and ORCID ID must be added to the final version according to the template before uploading.

  3. Abstract: At the beginning of the article, there must be Turkish and English abstracts consisting of a minimum of 100 and a maximum of 150 words, clearly and concisely expressing the subject. References, figures, and table numbers should not be mentioned in the abstract.

  4. Copyright Agreement Form: The Copyright Agreement Form  must be signed with a blue pen and uploaded to the system as a PDF. Authors from different institutions may fill out separate copies of the form. However, all signatures must be in blue ink and merged into a SINGLE PDF before submission. Authors retain the copyright of their published works, which are licensed under the CC BY-NC 4.0 license.

  5. Keywords: Below the abstract, at least 5 and at most 7 keywords must be provided. Each word must begin with a capital letter and be separated by commas.

  6. Main Text: Submitted manuscripts, including images, figures, maps, etc., must not exceed 35 journal pages (9,000 words) and must be at least 5,000 words. Manuscripts should be prepared on A4 paper with margins of 4 cm (top, bottom, right) and 5 cm (left), with at least 12 nk line spacing, justified alignment, without hyphenation, using 9-point Palatino Linotype font. (For detailed visual guidance, see the sample article template.) Tables, figures, images, and graphics must not exceed 12x17 cm to ensure proper formatting; therefore, smaller font sizes and single spacing may be used for these elements. The “ISNAD Citation System” must be used for footnotes and references.

  7. Section Headings: Main, intermediate, and subheadings may be used in accordance with the content. Each word in the headings must begin with a capital letter.

  8. Tables and Figures: Tables must include numbering and titles. Tables, figures, images, graphics, and similar elements must not exceed the journal page dimensions and should be limited to a maximum size of 12x17 cm. Smaller font sizes and single spacing may be used where necessary.

  9. Images: Images must be high-resolution and suitable for print quality and submitted as separate files in addition to the manuscript. Naming of images must follow the same rules as figures and tables. The total number of figures, tables, and images must not exceed 10 pages (one-third of the manuscript). Authors with technical capability may place these elements within the text, provided they are in a publishable format.

  10. Citations and References: Direct quotations must be enclosed in quotation marks. Page numbers must be provided for both direct and indirect citations. Quotations shorter than three lines should be included within the text; quotations longer than three lines should be formatted as a block quote, indented 1.5 cm from both left and right margins, in 7-point font with 1.5 line spacing. Footnotes should be avoided as much as possible, used only for explanations, and created using the automatic numbering feature in MS Word.

  11. Process: Submitted manuscripts undergo the following stages: Preliminary Check, Editorial Review, Plagiarism Similarity Screening, Ethics Statement Review, Double-Blind Peer Review, and Turkish–English Language Editing. Manuscripts that fail to pass the Preliminary Check after three evaluations are returned to the author and are not reconsidered within the same publication period. Manuscripts that pass the preliminary stage are evaluated by at least two reviewers under the double-blind peer review system. The final decision on publication is made by the Editorial Board.

  12. Publication of Studies Based on Surveys and Interviews: In order to ensure ethical standards in scientific publishing, the journal adopts the principles of the Committee on Publication Ethics (COPE), namely the “Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors” and the “Code of Conduct for Journal Publishers.” Accordingly, the following must be observed:
    a) For research requiring ethics committee approval in all scientific fields, such approval must be obtained, stated in the article, and documented.
    b) In studies requiring ethics committee approval, information about the approval (committee name, date, and reference number) must be included in the methodology section and also on one of the first/last pages of the article. In case reports, a statement confirming that an informed consent form has been signed must be included in the article.
