''Rift'' Vadileri ve Hatay Gravimetre Etüdünün Bazı Tektonik Neticeleri

Abstract

Bu makalede Hatay, Amik Ovasındaki gravite anomalisinin Afrika Rift vadilerindeki anomaliye müşabih olduğu görülüyor. Rift Vadilerindeki tektonik olayların ve elemanların Amik Ovası civarında da mevcut olduğu tebarüz ettirilerek burasının Rift Vadilerinin bir devamı olduğu neticesine varılıyor. G. F. S. Hills tarafından ortaya atılan Rift vadilerinin teşekkülü teorisi tadil edilerek Amik Ovasına tatbik ediliyor. Burası için muhtemel olan tektonik teşekkülât nazariyesi ve rusubi örtü altındaki muhtemel durum veriliyor.

Rift Valleys and Some Tectonic Results of the Hatay Gravity Survey

Abstract

The gravity anomaly in the Amik Plain, Hatay, Turkey, is similar to those in the Rift Valleys of Africa. The tectonic situation around the Amik Plain is also similar to those around the Rift Valleys. Thus, it is very likely that the Amik Plain is the continuation of the Rift Valleys. A theory suggested by G. F. S. HILLS to explain the development of the rift valleys is modified and applied to this area, and the possible structure under the sedimentary cover is given.
