Abstract

Bu çalışmada; Türkiye'nin Euxine bölgesindeki doğal Populus L. taksonlarında trahe boyutlarının yükselti ile gösterdiği değişim incelenmiştir. Odun örnekleri farklı yükseltilerden seçilen örnek ağaçlardan temin edilmiştir. Trahe teğet ve radyal çapları, 1 mm2deki trahe sayısı, trahe hücre uzunluğu gibi kantitatif trahe özelikleri belirlenerek vulnerabilite ve mezomorfi oranları hesaplanmıştır. Korelasyon analizine göre; trahe hücre uzunluğu dışındaki diğer trahe boyutları, vulnerabilite ve mezomorfi oranları yükselti ile anlamlı ilişkiler göstermektedir.

VESSEL SIZE VARIABILITY OF POPLAR (Populus L.) SPECIES IN RELATION TO ALTITUDE IN EUXINE REGION OF TURKEY

Abstract

Vessel size variability of Populus L. species, growing naturally in Euxine region of Turkey was investigated. For this purpose, the wood specimens were taken from Populus trees located at the different altitudes of this region. The selected anatomical features related to ecology such as vessel tangential diameter, the number of vessel per mm2 and vessel element length were studied and vulnerability and mesomorphy ratio were estimated on the basis of these for each tree in different altitudes. According to correlation analysis, mesomorphy and vulnerability ratio and the selected anatomical features except for vessel element length are correlated with altitude.
