A new method approach on the selection of suitable areas for recreational activities: The case of Bartın-Uluyayla
Abstract
The aim of this study is to expose a new method to determine the undisturbed rural areas to facilitate touristic and recreative activities and by using the method, the appropriate areas for the suggested activities, in Bartın-Uluyayla have been determined. To reach this aim, first, the activities which people mostly preferred for rural tourism and recreation facilities and the evaluation factor of these activities have been structured. By approaching some experts' for their ideas "suitable classification value charts" have been formed by using these factors. Natural and cultural features of the area have been set and a data base has been created. The most appropriate areas have been found out by examining if the area have enough evaluation factors, appropriate or conditional appropriate area have been pointed out for each activity. Among the activities that have been comprised with this research, "Camping/Camping with tents" have been found out as the most suitable activity, and "Nature walking" as the least suitable activity.
