Primary Care Approaches in Lip Palate Clefts and Prevention

Abstract

Birth anomalies have important implications for the life of the child and his / her family. Lip palate clefts are common birth anomalies. These anomalies are due to the effects of genetic and environmental factors. It is very important to identify these factors and remove them. Multidisciplinary work is required in the prevention and treatment of lip and palate clefts.  The incidence of cleft lip and palate in children can be reduced by providing consultancy services to the person, family and society, by identifying groups at risk and by following women who are pregnant or planning pregnancy. Primary care staff, who frequently meet individuals of all age groups and sexes, should be involved in interventions aimed at reducing the risk factors that play a role in the formation of cleft lip and palate, raising awareness of the society and maintaining the care of children with lip palate clefts. In this article, it is aimed to determine primary care approaches in the lip palate clefts and prevention.
