A Comparative Study Conducted in the University Libraries on Determining the Tendencies of the Information Professionals towards Utilization of' the Information Technologies

Year 2013, Volume: 27 Issue: 1, 52 - 78, 01.01.2013

Abstract

Today, the information and communication technologies are stated to be utilized densely in information sector just like in any other sectors. The Information experts undertake tasks in Library Services, which were handled jointly and cooperatively once before, by utilizing information technologies now. In this study it is aimed to outline the tendencies of the information experts to utilize information technologies. In order to reach to the objective, the Technology Acceptance Model was used as a conceptional framework and some of the individual characteristics that can be found in the expanded versions of the model were also taken into account. In the study, within the scope of the Technology Acceptance Model, individual and institutional factors, such as age, gender, educational status and organizational culture were analyzed. The study has been conducted with 139 personnel who work in the libraries of Eskisehir Osmangazi University and Anadolu University. The findings of the study showed that the Technology Acceptance Model is a useful model in order to understand the adaptation of the technology, proved that the individual differences age, gender and educational status have no influence over the perceived ease of use as well as on the perceived advantage however also indicated that the perceived ease of use and the perceived advantage do have an influence on the tendency of the attitude towards the utilization. On the other hand; the organization culture does not have any influence on attitude towards the utilization in the libraries of Eskisehir Osmangazi University and Anadolu University. In addition to this, it was revealed that the variable of the organization culture has a positive influence on the intent towards the behavior in both libraries.

Bilgi Profesyonellerinin Bilgi Teknolojisi Kullanma Eğilimlerinin Belirlenmesi Üzerine Üniversite Kütüphanelerinde Yapılan Karşılaştırmalı Bir Araştırma

Year 2013, Volume: 27 Issue: 1, 52 - 78, 01.01.2013
