Abstract

In this investigation, The Relationship Belief Inventory (RBI) was developed and the reliability and validity studies of the scale were done. The reliability and validity studies of the inventory on 384 people were done. The Relationship Belief Inventory is a 20 item likert-type with five point response fonnaI. The Cronbach Alpha coefficient regarding the internal consistency as .87. Computed test-retest reliability coefficient was .74. RBI correlated .24 with Irrational BeliefScale, and .30 with Dysfunctional Attitude Scale. The factor analysis showed that there were two factors explaining 38.37% of total variance of the inventory. These factors were called "Helplesness" and "Unlovability". The findings indicated that RBI can be used as a valid and reliable instrumenI.
