Structure Validity of Primarily Mental Abilities (PMAs) Test 7-11 Which is Adapted into Turkish

Abstract

In this research, it was aimed to determine whether PMAs test (7-11) adapted and used in Turkey in 2001 consisted of five dimensions measuring quantitative abilities, language, shape-space, deduction and disCl"Iminating and seven suh-tests as thought. In the first analysis no meaningful structure was found. In factar analysis, repeated four times, Items corrupting the structure were taken out and four meanIngful factors explaIning % 76.95 of total varIance were found. Subtests measuring the structure conceming these four meaningful factors and selected item numbers; (a) language abi/ity; verbal sub-test 30 items, pictures suh-test 15 items and word grouping sub-test 21 items, (h) shape-space ability; space nation sub-test 10 items, (c) discriminating ability; discriminating suh-test 15 items, and (d) number ability; calculation sub-test 31 Items and tota/ly 122 test items were determined. Fina/ly it 'vI/asfound that four special ahility scores could be calculated, based on gIven suh-test scores.

Türkçe'ye Uyarlanmış Temel Kabiliyetler Testi (TKT) 7-11'in Yapı Geçerliği

Abstract

Bu arastirmada, 2001 yr/ll1da Türkiye' de uyarlanarak ku/lamlmaya haslanr/an TKT 7-1]' in, öngörüldügü gibi, yedi alt testi ile dil, sekil-uzay, akli yürütme, ayirt etme ve sayisal yetenekleri ölçen hes hoyuttan olusup olusmadigll1l belirlemeye çalrsr/mistir. Birinci analizde anlamli yapiya ulasilamamistir. Yapiyi hozan maddeler analizden çikanlarak dört defa tekrarlanan faktör analizi i/e toplam varyansll1 % 76.95' ini açiklayan dört anlam irfaktöre ulasr/mistir. Bu anIamir dört faktöre iliskin yapiyi ölçen alt testler ve seçilmis madde sayr/an; (a) dil yetenegi; kelimeler alt testi 30 madde, resimler alt testi IS madde ve kelime gruplamasi alt testi 21 madde, (b) sekil-uzay yetenegi; yer kavrami alt testi 10 madde, (c) ayirt etme yetenegi; ayirt etme alt testi 15 madde ve (d) sayisal yetenek; hesap alt testi 31 madde olmak üzere toplam test 122 madde olarak belirlenmistir. Belirtilen alt test puanlanna dayalr olarak dört özel yetenek pUanll11nelde edilebilecegi sonucuna vanImistir.
