Abstract

The purposes of this study were (a) to determine whether university students’ identity status predict intimacy satisfaction, academic achievement score (GPA) and life satisfaction by differentiating interpersonal and ideological domains (b) to test whether there are gender differences in the relationship between identity status and dependent variables (c) to test the mediator roles of intimacy satisfaction and GPA in the relationship between identity status and life satisfaction. A total of 673 college students (490 female and 183 male) responded to items of Extensive Objective Measure of Ego Identity Status, Life Satisfaction Index and Multidimensional Relationship Questionnaire. Regression analyses indicated that the predictors of intimacy satisfaction were interpersonal moratorium, interpersonal diffusion and interpersonal achievement status. Main predictors of academic achievement were ideological achievement and interpersonal moratorium and predictors of life satisfaction were ideological moratorium, ideological achievement, interpersonal foreclosure and interpersonal moratorium. Intimacy satisfaction mediated the relationship between identity status and life satisfaction. Finally, there were gender differences in the relationships among variables

Kimlik ile Yaşam Doyumu Arasındaki İlişkide Yakınlık ve Akademik Başarının Aracı Rolü

Year 2014, Volume: 5 Issue: 42, 0 - , 14.10.2014
