In the study, how music education studies have developed over the years in terms of scientific productivity (authors, countries, citation rates, etc.) and how these studies have changed in terms of thematic trends were revealed by bibliometric analysis. The case study design, a qualitative research method, was adopted in the study. The data set consisted of 1776 studies published in Web of Science between 1980-2023. It was seen that the studies were published in 728 sources, the annual growth rate was 11.62%, the average age of the studies was 6.45 years and the references were 51274. It was seen that articles and proceedings were predominant in the studies. It was observed that the number of authors conducting research in the field of music education was 2897 and 785 of these authors published their studies with a single author. According to the findings, it was seen that the research mostly consisted of articles and proceedings. The study determined that the three authors who conducted the most studies in the field of music education had very high h-indexes in Web of Science researcher profiles
