LEO STRAUSS’UN MODERN FELSEFE ELEŞTİRİSİ VE KLASİK FELSEFEYE DÖNÜŞÜ

Abstract

Leo Strauss’un 20. yüzyıldaki
modern felsefenin içinde bulunduğu krize yönelik tespit ve eleştirileri, bu
dönemin içine düştüğü tıkanıklığın sebeplerini anlamak açısından önem arz etmektedir.
Strauss, modern felsefenin içine düştüğü krizin sebepleri olarak gördüğü rölativizm,
pozitivizm ve tarihselci akımların analizini yapmaktadır ve bunların
içerdikleri sorunların felsefeye klasik dönemde anlaşılandan tamamen başka bir
anlayışı getirdiğine ve evrensel hakikatin peşinde bir arayış olarak felsefenin
anlamını yitirdiğine işaret etmektedir. Bundan başka insan yaşayışıyla doğrudan
ilişkili olması bakımından siyaset, klasik felsefenin merkezî konusu iken
modern düşüncede öznel değerlendirmelerden kaçınma isteği ve bilimsellik
endişesi sebebiyle siyaset felsefesinin imkânının sorgulanır hâle geldiğini düşünmektedir.
Felsefenin ve özelde siyaset felsefesinin orijinal anlamına yeniden ulaşmak
için Strauss, klasik felsefeye dönülmesi gerektiğini ifade etmektedir. Bu
çalışmada, genel olarak Strauss’un modern felsefenin karakterine yönelik
analizi ve bu analizden hareketle klasik felsefeye dönüş fikrinin nasıl meydana
çıktığı açıklanmaya çalışılacaktır.
