The Relationship Between Artificial Intelligence Attitudes and Leadership Orientations: A Study on Sport Sciences Students

Abstract

The aim of this study is to examine the relationship between attitudes towards artificial intelligence and leadership orientations. Relational research model, one of the quantitative research methods, was used in the study. A total of 304 students studying at Selçuk University Faculty of Sport Sciences participated in the study. Demographic information form, “General Attitude Towards Artificial Intelligence Scale” and “Multifaceted Leadership Orientations Scale (MLAS)” were used as data collection tools. Before the data analysis, normality analysis was performed and since the data had normal distribution, t-test and Pearson correlation analysis were performed from parametric tests. Cronbah's Alpha analysis was applied to determine the internal consistency values of the data. SPSS 24.00 package programme was used to analyse the data. For this study, approval was obtained from Selçuk University, Faculty of Sport Sciences, Non-Interventional Clinical Research Ethics Committee. As a result, no significant difference was found between the students' gender, age, licensed sports and sports type variables and positive attitude towards artificial intelligence and leadership orientations scale. A significant difference was found between negative attitude towards artificial intelligence and gender in favour of males. On the other hand, a positive relationship was found between the participants' sport age and their attitudes towards artificial intelligence and leadership orientations. In addition, a significant positive relationship was found between positive attitude towards artificial intelligence and leadership orientations.
