Experiences and Evaluations of Foster Families, Who are Members of Foster Family Associations, on this Model

Abstract

The aim of this research is to understand the problems experienced in the foster care system and all aspects of the process from the perspectives of the foster families and their evaluations of the system and the process. In the light of this information, suggestions are made for the development of social policy and social services in order to develop the foster care model. Designed as a qualitative research model, the study is based on the data collected via semi-structured in-depth interviews conducted with 26 foster parents who are members of Denizli and İstanbul Foster Family Associations (13 foster parents from each organization). The data was analysed and interpreted on the basis of theoretical knowledge. Research result had been analysed under the main themes of; foster family’s motivation, information and education, adaptation process, biological family and foster families’ overall assessment about system and process.

KORUYUCU AİLE DERNEKLERİNE ÜYE OLAN KORUYUCU AİLELERİN BU MODELE İLİŞKİN DENEYİM VE DEĞERLENDİRMELER

Abstract

Bu araştırmanın amacı, koruyucu ailelerin koruyucu aile sistemi ve sürecine ilişkin değerlendirmelerinden yola çıkarak bu modelde yaşanan sorunları ve sürecin tüm yönlerini koruyucu aile sistemi içerisindeki unsurları göz önünde bulundurarak anlamaktır. Bu bilgiler ışığında koruyucu aile modelinin geliştirilmesi için sosyal politika ve sosyal hizmetlerin geliştirilmesine yönelik önerilerde bulunulmaktadır. Niteliksel araştırma modeliyle tasarlanan araştırmada, yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu aracılığıyla Denizli ve İstanbul Koruyucu Aile Derneklerine bağlı 26 koruyucu ebeveyn ile görüşmeler yapılmıştır. Denizli Koruyucu Aile Derneğine üye olan 13 koruyucu ebeveyn, İstanbul Koruyucu Aile Derneğine üye olan 13 koruyucu ebeveyn ile yapılan görüşmeler kuramsal bilgiler temelinde analiz edilerek yorumlanmıştır. Araştırma sonuçları; koruyucu aile olma motivasyonu, bilgilendirme ve eğitim, uyum süreci, biyolojik aile ve koruyucu ailelerin sisteme ve sürece ilişkin genel değerlendirmeleri temaları altında yorumlanmıştır.
