ASSESSMENT OF CAREGIVING BURDEN OF CAREGIVERS

Öz

The present study was conducted with the objective of ascertaining the level of caregiving burden experienced by caregivers, and the relationship between sociodemographic variables that may impact this burden.A descriptive study was conducted between 20 May and 20 September 2023, with the participation of 71 personnel members and 30 relatives of patients working in care and rehabilitation centres in the Cerkes district. The total number of individuals involved in the study was 101.Personal information forms, a questionnaire, and a caregiving burden scale were utilised as data collection tools. Statistical comparisons, including, Mann-Whitney U tests, t-tests and ANOVA tests, were conducted to analyse the data. The statistical significance of the data was evaluated at the p<0.05 level, and it was determined that certain sociodemographic variables (marital status, educational status, and living with the person receiving care) did not reveal a significant difference in the total score of the scale (p>0.05). The mean total score on the caregiving burden scale was found to be 33.7 ± 10.0, indicating that caregivers perceived the caregiving process as a burden below the medium level. The determination of the burden of care, in conjunction with the provision of social and institutional support for its reduction, has the potential to engender a superior quality care service.

BAKIM VERENLERİN BAKIM VERME YÜKÜNÜN DEĞERLENDİRİLMESİ

Öz

Çalışma bakım verenlerin bakım verme yükünü ve bunu etkileyen sosyodemografik değişkenler arasındaki ilişki düzeyini belirlemek amacıyla gerçekleştirilmiştir. Tanımlayıcı olarak planlanan araştırma, 20 Mayıs- 20 Eylül 2023 tarihleri arasında Çerkeş ilçesinde bakım ve rehabilitasyon merkezlerinde görev yapan 71 personel ve 30 hasta yakını toplam 101 bireyin katılımı ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Veri toplama aracı olarak, kişisel bilgi formu anketi ile bakım verme yükü ölçeği kullanılmıştır. İstatistiksel karşılaştırmalarda Mann Whitney U testleri, t-testleri ve ANOVA testleri kullanılmıştır. Verilerin istatistiksel anlamlılığı p<0,05 düzeyinde değerlendirilmiştir. Sosyodemografik bazı değişkenlerin (medeni durum, eğitim durumu, bakım alan kişi ile birlikte yaşama durumu) ölçeğin toplam puanında anlamlı bir fark ortaya çıkardığı belirlendi (p>0,05). Bakım verenlerin bakım verme yükü ölçeği toplam puan ortalaması 33,7±10,0 olarak bulundu. Ölçeğin ortalama puanına göre bakım verenlerin bakım sürecini orta düzeyin altında yük olarak algıladıkları belirlenmiştir. Bakım yükünün belirlenmesi, yükün azaltılmasına yönelik sosyal ve kurumsal desteğin sağlanması daha kaliteli bir bakım hizmetinin sunulmasını sağlayabilir.
