Coğrafi konumu nedeniyle önemli bir yerleşim yeri olan ve 1359’da Osmanlı topraklarına katılan Babaeski’de yer alan Semiz Cedid Ali Paşa Külliyesi, Mimar Sinan tarafından 1562 yılında yapılmıştır. Külliye cami, medrese, hamam, kervansaray ve dükkanlardan oluşmaktadır. Tarihsel süreç içerisinde uğradığı istila ve savaşlarla birlikte, imar faaliyetleri ve bilinçsiz müdahaleler sebebiyle külliyeden günümüze sadece cami ve hamam kalabilmiştir. Çalışmada, Semiz Ali Paşa Külliyesi’nin belgelere göre değerlendirilmesi yapılmış; mevcut cami ve hamamın geçirdiği onarımlar ve günümüzdeki durumu ortaya konulmuştur. Yazılı kaynaklar, mevcut kalıntılar ve karşılaştırmalı çalışma yapılarak Medrese ve “Çifte Hamam” olması muhtemel hamam için restitüsyon önerisi geliştirilmiştir. Bu bağlamda külliyenin bütüncül, evrensel koruma ilkeleri doğrultusunda korunması irdelenmiştir.
Semiz Cedid Ali Paşa Complex is located in Babaeski, on the historical road from Istanbul to Belgrad, was included within the Ottoman territory in 1359. The complex was built in 1562 by Mimar Sinan. The complex consists of the mosque, madrasah, hamam, caravanserai and shops. Due to the wars and invasions the complex was faced with throughout the history, as well as various construction activities and unconscious interventions, today only the mosque and bath survive from the whole complex
