Subject of this study is 123 Byzantine coins registered in the inventory of Erzurum Archaeological Museum in the years between 2005-2017. The study puts forward that coin circulation in Erzurum and its territories is represented considering the methods to bring those coin to the museum and regional distribution of coins even if the coins are brought to the museum through procurement. The oldest coins 2 of which are gold and 121 of which are bronze date back to Anastasius (491-518 A.D.) and newest coins date back to Manuel I Period (1143-1180 A.D.). Coins that were used in the Byzantine Period by 13 emperors in a very long term and have various anonymous folles samples were printed in 4 mints; Antiocheia, Constantinopolis, Nicomedia and Thessalonica. Within the scope of the study, catalogs of 123 coins in the inventory of Erzurum Archaeological Museum were prepared and the coins were generally assessed. In addition, coins were compared to the coin findings in the nearby cities and circulation of coins were reviewed in detail. While circulation of coins was evaluated, data that were used in the studies on Byzantine coins in Erzurum Archaeological Museum were also used. In conclusion of the study, it is found that Erzurum and its territories have a relationship with Byzantine period and distribution of coin findings. With reference to those findings, some data were obtained.
