Abstract
Tarih ki mazinin müstakbele nakil ihbarıdır, zahirde bir hikâyeden ibaret görünür: fakat hakikatte, fenni şahane vasfıyla tebcil (yüceltme) olunan, marifet_i hükümetin en büyük hademelerindendir.
Hakikat! Bir milletin tarihi bilinmezse bekasına, terakkisine lazım olan esbabın mevcudi, mefkudu (olmayan) nereden öğrenilecek? İhtiyacat_ı siyasiye maddiyattan değildir ki göz ile görülsün, el ile tutulsun. Tabiyyat veya riyaziyatdan (aritmetik-geometri) değildir ki aletle ölçülsün, muadele (karşılıklı anlayış) ile hallolunsun.
