Copyright Policy

The Turkish History Education Journal (TUHED) site and its metadata are licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial 4.0 (CC BY-NC) International license. These license terms allow the author(s) or reader to share, copy, redistribute, and adapt (re-edit, transform) the material in different formats and media, with appropriate citations and a clear indication of any changes made. However, this license does not permit any commercial use of the material.

The author(s) must read the following copyright agreement and upload a signed copy to the journal system (Copyright Agreement):

  • The author(s) of the manuscript has/have to declare that;
    a) The work is original and written by the author(s) included in the manuscript,
    b) There is no plagiarism,
    c) The article has not been published elsewhere or submitted for publication,
    c) All authors have contributed to this study individually and they take all kinds of responsibility for this study,
    d) All authors accept and undertake that they have seen and approved the final version of the submitted manuscript.
  • In case of publication, the author(s) transfer their copyrights (including processing, reproduction, representation, printing, publication, and distribution) to the Turkish History Education Journal (TUHED). However, these transfer conditions do not cover;
    a) patent rights,
    b) reproduction rights for non-commercial purposes,
    c) republishing the part of the work as a book or book chapter, with proper citations to the original document.
  • Under the ULAKBİM Code of Ethics, data collection tools (scale and survey, etc.) and images belonging to third parties cannot be used without obtaining the necessary legal permissions from the persons or institutions holding the copyright. In such cases, it is not enough to cite the copyright holder and the institution alone. It should be stated in the Ethical Statement and Copyright Transfer form that the study is royalty-free or that the necessary permissions (showing the copyright holder's name and the date) have been obtained from the copyright holder. The author(s) accepts and undertakes that the text, figures, and documents in the article do not violate the copyrights of other parties.
  • The author(s) undertakes that there are no criminal or illegal statements in the article, that no illegal materials and methods are used while conducting the research, that they have obtained all legal and ethical permissions related to the study, and that they act in accordance with ethical rules.
  • Any factual inaccuracies or opinions expressed in the articles published in TUHED belong to the author and may not reflect the knowledge, opinion, or point of view of our journal. The author(s) undertakes that the Turkish History Education Journal and Journal Editors are not responsible for any claims or lawsuits to be filed by third parties due to copyright infringement and that all responsibility belongs to them.

ANNOUNCEMENTS:

1- APA7 Referencing Style:

As of May 2024, TUHED will follow APA 7 (American Psychological Association) style for referencing and citation. For more information, please refer to the TUHED template and writting guidelines.

2- Early Release:

According to the TUHED's new publication policy, the articles which have completed the evaluation process will be published online-first. It will no longer be necessary for manuscripts to wait until the “next issue”. Early Release articles will receive an international identification code (DOI), and identified page numbers. 

3- Ethics Committee Approval:

In accordance with the ULAKBİM decision of 25 February 2020, Ethics Committee Approval must be obtained for studies on people (without age restrictions), this approval must be specified in the Method section of the article and signed Ethics Committee Approval must be uploaded to the system. Applications that do not meet these requirements will not be considered for publication.

4- New Publication Policy 

Beginning from Spring 2021 issue TUHED will require all Turkish manuscripts to contain a full-text English translation. Manuscripts submitted in Turkish will be requested to have full-text English translation if they are accepted for publication after the review process.
