Abstract
“Coğrafya Tedrisatı” başlıklı bu çalışmada modern coğrafya anlayışının Türkiye’ye yerleşip benimsenmesinde öncü rol alan isimlerden Faik Sabri Duran’ın Tedrisat Mecmuası’nda yayınlanan “Coğrafya Nedir?” ve “Coğrafyanın Kıymet-i Terbiyesi” başlıklı makaleleri doğrultusunda coğrafya ve coğrafya eğitimine dair değerlendirmeleri yer almaktadır. Faik Sabri ilgili makalelerinde coğrafyanın sadece okullarda okutulan bir ders değil gündelik hayatta her an karşılaştığımız bir alan olduğunu göstermekte, coğrafyanın müşahede, mülahaza, muhakeme esaslarına müstenid olması gerektiğini ifade etmekte ve eski coğrafya anlayışını ve coğrafya eğitimini tenkit etmektedir. İlgili metinlerin günümüz Türkçesine çevirisinde Türk Tarih Kurumu’nun Osmanlı Türkçesi transkripsiyon kuralları dikkate alınmıştır. Arapça-Farsça kökenli kelimelerin anlamları çevirenin notu ifadesiyle dipnotta gösterilmiştir.
Abstract
In this study, the evaluations by Faik Sabri Duran, one of the names who played a leading role in
the establishment and adoption of modern geography understanding in Turkey, on geography and
geography education are included in line with his articles titled “What is Geography” and “The
Value of Geography” published in Education Magazine (Tedrisat Mecmuası). In his related articles,
Faik Sabri shows that geography is not only a lesson taught in schools, but also an area that we
encounter every day in our daily life, states that geography should be based on observation,
consideration and reasoning, and criticizes the old understanding of geography and geography
education.

According to the TUHED's new publication policy, the articles which have completed the evaluation process will be published online-first. It will no longer be necessary for manuscripts to wait until the “next issue”. Early Release articles will receive an international identification code (DOI), and identified page numbers.
3- Ethics Committee Approval:
In accordance with the ULAKBİM decision of 25 February 2020, Ethics Committee Approval must be obtained for studies on people (without age restrictions), this approval must be specified in the Method section of the article and signed Ethics Committee Approval must be uploaded to the system. Applications that do not meet these requirements will not be considered for publication.
4- New Publication Policy
Beginning from Spring 2021 issue TUHED will require all Turkish manuscripts to contain a full-text English translation. Manuscripts submitted in Turkish will be requested to have full-text English translation if they are accepted for publication after the review process.
