In this article, Muallim Cevdet, a significant figure in the field of education, examines the impact of scientific visits on our national upbringing. The article was published in the 45th issue of Tedrîsât-ı İbtidâiyye Mecmûa, dated May 1919 and published by the teachers of Dârülmuallimîn, which holds great importance in the history of Turkish education. Muallim Cevdet's article highlights the significance of scientific trips to historical sites for national education, the benefits these trips bring to students, the emotions and thoughts evoked by the historical sites and artifacts encountered during the trips, and the establishment of a connection with historical figures through these experiences. Additionally, the article includes a list of the scientific visit routes that Dârülmuallimîn would undertake in Istanbul within an academic year. This emphasizes the contributions of scientific trips in teaching history, fostering historical awareness, and their impact on teacher training. The translation of this text into contemporary Turkish adheres to the Ottoman Turkish transcription rules set by the Turkish Historical Society. Any unfamiliar words are explained in footnotes with the translator's notes.
Bu yazıda maarif tarihimizin en önemli isimlerinden Muallim Cevdet, ilmi ziyaretlerin milli terbiyemiz üzerindeki etkilerini irdelemiştir. Yazı, Türk eğitim tarihi açısından önem arz eden ve Dârülmuallimîn hocalarınca çıkartılan Tedrîsât-ı İbtidâiyye Mecmûasının Mayıs 1919 tarihli 45. sayısında yayınlanmıştır. Muallim Cevdet, yazısında tarihi mekânlara yapılan ilmi gezilerin milli terbiye için neden önemli olduğu, bu gezilerin talebeye neler kazandırdığı, geziler esnasında görülen tarihi mekân ve eserlerin talebede hangi his ve düşünceleri uyandırdığı, bu geziler vesilesiyle tarihi şahsiyetlerle nasıl irtibat kurulacağı üzerinde durmuştur. Ayrıca Dârülmuallimîn’in İstanbul’da bir eğitim yılı içerisinde yapacağı ilmi ziyaret rotasının bir listesine de yer verilmiştir. Bu vesile ile ilmi gezilerin, tarih öğretiminde ve tarih bilinci kazandırmadaki katkılarının, öğretmen yetiştirmedeki etkilerinin altı çizilmiştir. Bu metnin günümüz Türkçesine çevirisinde Türk Tarih Kurumu’nun Osmanlı Türkçesi transkripsiyon kuralları dikkate alınmıştır. Bilinmeyen kelimelerin anlamları çevirenin notu ibaresiyle dipnotta gösterilmiştir.

According to the TUHED's new publication policy, the articles which have completed the evaluation process will be published online-first. It will no longer be necessary for manuscripts to wait until the “next issue”. Early Release articles will receive an international identification code (DOI), and identified page numbers.
3- Ethics Committee Approval:
In accordance with the ULAKBİM decision of 25 February 2020, Ethics Committee Approval must be obtained for studies on people (without age restrictions), this approval must be specified in the Method section of the article and signed Ethics Committee Approval must be uploaded to the system. Applications that do not meet these requirements will not be considered for publication.
4- New Publication Policy
Beginning from Spring 2021 issue TUHED will require all Turkish manuscripts to contain a full-text English translation. Manuscripts submitted in Turkish will be requested to have full-text English translation if they are accepted for publication after the review process.
