Author Guidelines

1. Turkish Review of Communication Studies is an academic and scientific refereed journal of the Faculty of Communication of Marmara University being published biannually in June and December.
2. The journal includes scientific and original studies/articles handling and analyzing the issues or problems regarding the communication sciences. The studies are expected to be written with scientific concerns, to add value to the field, give references to the significant resources of the field, not to be written on biased opinions, not to include catchphrases and use an improved language. Besides, they are required to be characterized as screening, research or conference proceedings.
3. The peer-review process shall not be initiated for those articles that do not comply with the rules of publishing, for the ones that do not include footnote, references, prefaces or abstracts.
4. During the process of assessing articles, initially, special care should be given that the referees and the authors are not from the same institution. The name of the referees and the authors should be preserved carefully and never declared. The Board of Referees changes in every edition and is formed according to the subjects of that edition. The referees of the interdisciplinary articles are determined according to the related fields.
5. In the first phase of the evaluation process two referees are assigned according to the field of each article. In case one of the referee reports is “can not be published” and the other is “can be published after being corrected” or “can be published”, a third referee is assigned and his/her remarks are expected. In case the remark of the third referee is “can be published” or “can be published after being corrected”, the correction demands of the referee and editor is sent to the author. However, if the report of the third referee is “can not be published,” the article is not published and this situation is notified to the author.
6. The authors are expected to observe the required corrections carefully and without delay and send the corrected and final version to the e-mail address in 15 days. In case it appears that the corrections are not fully observed, this situation is communicated to the author. The articles, which are not sent back in corrected forms within the required period, are not included in the list of articles to be published.
7. The articles may be written in Turkish and English languages.
8. The articles sent to the journal to be published, are required not to be published in any other journal before or should not be held in the assessment stage for publishing. 
9. The presentations submitted in national or international scientific meetings, congresses, conferences, or symposiums, can be accepted and included in the referee process if they are transformed into the format and content of an article and have not been published in any other journal or periodical before.
10. The articles to be sent to the journal should be written by using Microsoft Word Program, in Times New Roman font, in 12 punt font size and 1,5 line spacing. There should be spaces of 3 cm in top, down, left hand side and right hand side parts of the paper. 
11.  The abstract should be between 100-150 words and also include 5 to 7 keywords. 
12. Research scale, aim, methodology and results should be mentioned briefly in the abstract.
13. Author (s) name/ names should be indicated under the article heading and also the academic title of the author, the name and the address of his/her institution and mobile phone numbers, fax number and e-mail address should be written in a deep note given to the name of the author.
14. The Editorial Board gives the final decision to publish any item, the Board sends its evaluation of the item to the author (s) with referee reports as soon as possible.
15.All the legal responsibility of the article content is of Author(s).
16. The copyrights of items published by the editorial board belongs to Turkish Review of Communication Studies, author (s) are/ are not paid for the items.
17. Author (s) approve(s) for their articles to take place in the noncommercial electronic database for the sake of sharing knowledge in the domestic and international sphere, therefore, Marmara Communication Journal can publish the item with full text as General Public License.

Referencing
 
  • The only referencing method that can be used is referencing within the main text method, that is to say APA (6th Edition). Therefore references should be mentioned within the main text by indicating author’s name, publication date and page number within parenthesis. (Surname, Publication Year, p. Page Number).
Extra explanations regarding the main text and other remarks should be given in footnotes. These notes should be numbered within the text and should be given at the end of the page with respective order and corresponding remarks.The footnotes for the remarks that are given at the end of the page should also be referred with referencing within the main text method.Paraphrased text should be put into main text with double quotation marks.Paraphrased text that is longer than 40 words should be put into indented paragraphs without any quotation marks.In referencing, if the author’s name is not given in the main text, author’s surname and publication year should be given within parenthesis. (Hobsbawm, 2007).If a specific page number is given as a reference, in addition to author’s surname and publication year, page number should also be mentioned. (Carr, 2008: 13).If the author’s name is given in the main text, only the publication year and page number should be given within parenthesis. (2005, s. 26).Non-consecutive pages should be referenced as (Joyce, 2002, s. 21, 48, 59).Consecutive pages should be referenced as (Mandel, 2007, ss. 21-24, 33-35).If there are two co-authors, both authors’ surname should be mentioned: (Morley & Robins, 2007, s. 19).If there are more than two co-authors, “ et. al” should be included (Stevenson vd., 2004).If multiple publications with same author and same publication year will be referenced, these publications should be differentiated by adding a, b, c, etc to the publication year: (Ortaylı, 1999a; 1999b).If multiple references will be made for the same subject, resources should be separated by semicolon (Geray, 2005, s. 31; Moran, 2006, s. 37).
 
Bibliography Writing Method
The list of references should only include the resources which were referred in the article and these resources should be listed in alphabetical order. If various studies of an author are to be included in the list of references, they should be listed according to the chronological order of the publishing (from the old to the new).
