Publication Process

How are papers assessed in TURJE?

Peer Review Process

Blind review method is fundamental to the objective review of scientific studies and is preferred by many scientific journals to make sure scientific publications are produced with the highest quality. Reviewer views are determinant in the publication quality of Turkish Journal of Education. All manuscripts submitted to TURJE are blind reviewed according to the steps below:

Blind Review Method

TURJE uses the double-blind review method in the review process of all manuscripts which means that both the reviewer and author identities are concealed from the reviewers and vice versa.

Initial Review Process

The manuscript is welcomed by the Editor in-Chief

The manuscripts submitted to TURJE are reviewed by the editors first.

At this stage;

- the manuscripts which are not within the journal's aim and scope,

- weak in terms of language and wording,

- contain critical scientific mistakes and do not meet the publishing criteria are rejected.

The studies should be submitted to TURJE with originality report and the studies which don’t meet the originality criteria are rejected. The authors are informed in a month following the submission date.

The studies considered as acceptable at that stage are submitted to a language editor. Language editor evaluates the manuscript according to academic language criteria and fills a review form and according to results of this report, the studies can be rejected, accepted or required revision. This stage lasts from eight to 15 days.

Pre-review Process

In the pre-review process, the field editors evaluate the introduction and literature, method, findings, results, discussion parts of the studies in detail with regard to the publishing policies and scope of the journal as well as originality. At the end of this process, those studies that are found unacceptable are returned within four weeks the latest together with the field editor report. The studies which are deemed appropriate are assigned to reviewers.

Assigning Reviewers

Field Editors assign reviewers according to the content of the studies and their subject of expertise. The field editor who reviews the study recommends at least two reviewers, based on their subject of expertise, from the reviewer pool of TURJE or a new reviewer related to the subject of study addressed in the article. If a new reviewer is assigned for the study, s/he has to register TURJE’s reviewer pool and after the confirmation, s/he can be assigned as a reviewer. Then the studies are passed on to the reviewers who are obliged to guarantee that they will not share any document or detail about the study they review.

Reviewer Reports

The reviewer reports are based on the originality of the studies, methods, and ethical considerations, consistent presentation of the findings and results and analysis of the studies with regard to literature in general. This evaluation is done according to the following:

Statement of the Problem or Purpose

The Relevance of the Topic

Importance of the Topic

Contribution to the Literature

Organization of the manuscript

Drawing and Building Upon Relevant Literature

Methodology

Discussion

Conclusion
