TÜRK DİLİNDE *-s ÇOKLUK EKİ

Abstract

Ortak Türk dilinde
çokluk eki olan –lAr ekinin yanı sıra
Çuvaşça da dâhil olmak üzere Türk dillerinde daha eskiye dayanan ve *-s olarak ihya edilebilecek bir çokluk
eki bulunmaktadır. Ortak Türk dilinde (*)-z, Bulgar Türkçesinde ise (*)-r biçiminde temsil edilen bu ek
tartışmalı bir içeriğe sahip olup bazı Türkologlar tarafından kabul görürken
bazıları tarafından reddedilmektedir. Dil içi ihya (internal reconstruction)
metodunun uygulandığı bu çalışmada söz konusu ekin Pre-Proto-Türk dilinde
varlığının reddedilmesinin herhangi bir nedeninin olmadığı gözler önüne
serilmektedir. Çağdaş Türk dillerinde zamirler, sayılar, vücut kısımlarının
adları ve bunların dışında kalan az sayıda bazı kelimeleri içeren ad
kategorisindeki sözcük birimlerinde bu ek muhafaza edilmiştir.
