İrfan A. Khan’ın Kuran Hermenötiğine Bir Giriş

Abstract

Bu makale, Kur’an ve Modern Batı Felsefesinin önemli bir bilgini olan İrfan A. Khan’ın Kur’an Hermenötiğini tanıtmaktadır. Khan’ın bu iki alandaki uzmanlığı, kendisinde Kur’an’ı anlamaya dair kapsamlı bir kuram ve usul bilgisi olarak tezahür etmektedir. Bir taraftan modern tefsir kuramları, analitik felsefe ve olay/olgu/durum (event) ontolojisi konusunda çok bilgilidir, diğer taraftan da Kur’an’ın modern ve klasik tefsiri konusunda uzmandır. Khan, Kur’an’ı anlamanın yöntemlerini öğretmeye odaklanmak adına, yazılarında ve derslerinde, felsefî ve tarihî meseleleri fazla irdelemedi. O, bu bilgisini, daha ziyade Kur’an’ı açıklarken uygulamaya geçirdi. Bu yazının önemli bir katkısı, Khan’ın külliyatından bu örtülü felsefî ve Kur’anî argümanları çıkarıp açık ve sistematik bir şekilde sunarak onun Kur’an hermenötiğini daha detaylı inceleme için tanıtmaktır.

An Introduction to the Quranic Hermeneutic of Dr. Irfan A. Khan

Abstract

This paper introduces Qur’anic hermeneutic of Irfan A. Khan (b. 1931), a significant scholar of the Qur’an and modern Western philosophy. Khan’s expertise in these two areas seems to result in a comprehensive theory and methodology of understanding the Qur’an. He is well versed in the modern hermeneutical theory, analytical philosophy, and event ontology on the one hand, and classical and modern methodologies of Qur’anic hermeneutics on the other. Khan in his writings and lectures did not indulge in philosophical or historical issues for the sake of keeping his focus on teaching the methodologies of understanding the Qur’an. He simply applied that knowledge in explaining the Qur’an. A significant contribution of this paper is to dig these hidden philosophical and Qur’anic arguments from Khan’s corpus and present them in a systematic and clear way to introduce his Qur’anic hermeneutic for further discourse.
