A.     Focus and Scope:

Ulusal Egitim Akademisi Dergisi / National Journal of Education Academy (UEAD) is a double blind, peer-reviewed, open access and semiannual international journal that aims at reporting high-quality empirical and original research contributions in all sub-fields of education.

The scope of UEAD includes theory and practice in all sub-fields of educational research. UEAD also publishes book reviews of potential interest to readers. Publication languages of the journal are Turkish and English.

Manuscripts not submitted elsewhere for publication will be considered. Papers presented at scientific events are also accepted for publication with the same strict peer-review process. 

B.     Manuscript types:

1- Research  / Review article (Max. 7000 words)

2- Short report (Max. 1500 words)

3- Book review (Max 1000 words)

C.     Calendar for the regular issues of UEAD:

UEAD publishes two regular issues in a year. The issues are published in April and September. It is possible to publish special issues or publish any of the regular issues as special issue based on the decision of editorial board.

D.     The general steps followed by the UEAD during the review process are as follow:

1- After receiving the manuscript the corresponding author receives a confirmation email of submission.

2- Submitted manuscripts will be firstly screened by the editor-in-chief and section editors for the appropriateness of the manuscript to the journal. After this pre-decision,

3- Each submitted manuscript will be firstly subjected to the similarity report and plagiarism check. In this process, iThenticate, a plagiarism screening service that verifies the originality of content submitted, will be used. The iThenticate software checks submissions against millions of published research papers, documents on the web, and other relevant sources. Authors can also use the iThenticate system to screen their work before submission by visiting and learning much about the system from http://www.ithenticate.com/

4- After the decision of the originality report,  the manuscript will be sent to two international referees for blind review (the referees are selected according to their expertise in the field and authors can also suggest referees).

5- All manuscripts are evaluated according to the reviewers’ guidelines. On the basis of their evaluation, the referees recommend the paper either for publication or for rejection or they can suggest some necessary changes if it is needed.

6- A third review in the case of disaccord between the reviewers will get involved in the process.

7- Based on the two positive comments of international reviewers, the manuscript will be published.

8- When  the manuscript is accepted for publication, the corresponding author is issued an acceptance letter.

9- The review process of the UEAD is expected to be completed within four weeks.

E.     Journal Management and Publishing System

This journal uses Open Journal Systems, which is open source journal management and publishing software developed, supported, and freely distributed by the Public Knowledge Project under the GNU General Public License.

Please ensure your submission follows the guidelines in these documents before it is submitted. Please use the bibliographic and formatting standards set out by Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association, 6th edition, 2010.

Note: Manuscripts not in line with the UEAD’s guidelines will not be accepted for the review. Online submission is advised but you can also send your manuscript to the editors and ulusalakademi@gmail.com for submission. After the both ways, you will receive a confirmational mail about the submission.

G.    Article Processing Charge

UEAD welcomes article submissions and does not charge any publication fee or article processing charge.

H. Archiving

This journal uses the LOCKSS system to create a file system distributed among the participant libraries and it allows them to create permanent archives of the journal for preservation and restoration. More information (http://www.lockss.org/lockss/Home). See in the “Home Page” news that several repositories have copy of the published issues. 

I.  Copyright and Author Permission Policy

UEAD  allows the authors of the articles to keep the copyright for any further use and/or distribution. The authors are free to retain all permissions of the articles published in UEAD . Authors are requested to acknowledge that the work is already published in UEAD  in case they re-use the work.
