The concept of maternal gatekeeping has an very important position among factors that effect fatherhood. Maternal gatekeeping is a relatively new concept in the field, newer concept in our country and currently there is so many deficiencies in this area. This study aims to make adaptation of Maternal Gatekeeping Scale -developed by Fagan and Barnett (2003)- in Turkish for mother and fathers have children at preschool (3-6 age range) and also primary school (7-11 age range). Participants are married mothers and fathers whose child is at preschool and primary school (for preschool 156 mother and 156 father, for primary school 214 mother and 202 father). Mothers’ (have preschooler) mean of age was 34.05 (SD=5.22) and fathers’ mean of age was 37.17’dir (SD=5.95). Mothers’ (have child at primary school) mean of age was 34.89 (SD=5.03) and fathers’ mean of age was 38.85 in this study (SD=5.11). As a result of the confirmatory factor analysis and reliability analysis, it is determined that Maternal Gatekeeping Scale-Mother Form and Maternal Gatekeeping Scale-Father Form for primary school period, and Maternal Gatekeeping Scale-Mother Form and Maternal Gatekeeping Scale-Father Form for primary school period were valid and reliable statistically. Also there are positive and significant correlations between mother and father forms for both preschool period and primary school period. Descriptive statistics for scales were presented in results section. The results of the scales were discussed as part of literature.
