Abstract

The European Union, regarded as one of the world's largest and most successful economic integration movements and the People's Republic of China which has become one of the world's most important political and economic powers over time, have seen their relations gain momentum from their inception to the present day. On the other hand, there are notable disagreements between Beijing and Brussels particularly regarding human rights practices the application of World Trade Organization rules, the US-China trade wars, the Belt and Road Initiative and preferences in foreign and security policy (such as the Arctic and Ukraine) and as a natural consequence, mutual negative impacts. In light of the economic and political cooperation and conflicts of interest between the Chinese and EU economies comparative analyses and assessments of both economies are provided, ranging from trade balances and inflation rates to the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) data of the two countries. Financial flows between Brussels and Beijing have developed over the last twenty years under the influence of mutual trade and direct foreign investment between the two economies. While the EU countries directly constitute an export market for China, the EU countries are also an important trading partner for China in terms of production and supply chains. In this context, the relevant research study will analyze the relations between China and the European Union through approaches based on selected political-economic case studies.

Abstract

Dünyanın en büyük ve başarılı ekonomik bütünleşme hareketlerinden birisi olarak kıymetlendirilen Avrupa Birliği ve zaman geçtikçe dünyanın en önemli politik ve de ekonomik güçlerinden birisi haline dönüşen Çin Halk Cumhuriyeti arasındaki irtibatlar başlangıcından günümüze ivme kazanmıştır. Öte yandan Pekin ve Brüksel arasında özellikle insan hakları uygulamaları, Dünya Ticaret Örgütü’nün kurallarının tatbikine ilaveten ABD-Çin ticaret savaşları, Kuşak-Yol Girişimi, dış ve de güvenlik politikaları konularındaki tercihler (Arktik, Ukrayna gibi) bağlamlarında dikkat çekici anlaşmazlıklar ve de bunun doğal bir sonucu olarak karşılıklı olumsuz etkilenmeler yaşanmaktadır. Çin ve Birlik ekonomileri arasındaki ekonomik ve politik iş birlikleri ve çıkar çatışmalarının ışığında her iki ekonomisinin de ticaret dengesinden, enflasyon oranlarına ve iki ülkenin Gayri Safi Yurtiçi Hasıla (GSYİH) verilerine kadar karşılaştırmalı analizlerine ve değerlendirilmelerine yer verilmektedir. Brüksel ile Pekin arasındaki finansal akımlar son yirmi senede iki ekonominin karşılıklı ticaret ve doğrudan yabancı yatırımların etkisinde gelişmektedir. Çin için Birlik ülkeleri direkt olarak ihracat pazarını oluştururken, Birlik ülkeleri ise Çin üretim ve tedarik zinciri bakımında önemli bir ticaret ortağıdır. Bu çerçevede ilgili araştırma çalışmasında Çin-Avrupa Birliği arasındaki ilişkiler seçili politik-ekonomik vaka çalışmalarına yaklaşımlar üzerinden analiz edilecektir.
