The paper discusses the Konya Bagirsak Gorge and its immediate surroundings, where the Battle of Myriokephalon (September 17, 1176) took place and have an important position in the national history of Turkey, in terms of the human geography. In addition to local and foreign literature, relatively comprehensive field surveys were conducted between 2014 and 2017, allowing direct observation of many human geography factors. There is continuity in settlements, albeit in different forms, in the study area in almost every period since the time of the Hittites. In this context, tumuli, ruins, fortresses, villages, highlands, and animal pens are major settlements that attract attention. However, it has been seen that no comprehensive researches have been carried out and no publications have been made on these settlements.
In the study, the settlements located in and around the Bagirsak Pass were examined separately taking into consideration the geographical systematic and the scope of a paper, and the location, settlement, population and economic activities of each one of these settlements were addressed concisely. Likewise, the importance of the study area in terms of transportation was also dealt with. Thus, it was aimed to contribute to any future more comprehensive studies, in addition to introduction of the site in the academic terms.
